Conceptual and Extended Basic Engineering
Investment value
USD 200 M
As part of its ambitious 2012 expansion plan, Axion Energy has modernized its Campana refinery, incorporating new key units such as the Atmospheric Distillation Unit (ATU) and the Vacuum Distillation Unit (CVU). These installations allow the heaviest crudes to be processed as efficiently as possible, enabling a more thorough oil conversion. This has allowed for the maximization of clean combustible production under Euro regulation and has proven Campana to be one of the most advanced refineries in the region.
Hytech conducted both the Conceptual and Basic Extended Engineering for this project, developing modifications to the traditional configuration of an atmospheric distillation column and vacuum, and incorporating an additional intermediate column operated under vacuum to eliminate bottlenecks. This new column improves the fractionation of the most valuable gasoil and reduces the recovery charge in the second column.
Hytech carried out an integral analysis of each unit and the general auxiliary services and specifications of the complex, identifying bottlenecks through the verification of each of the process equipment (Columns, Preheaters, Air Condensers, Pumps, etc.).
