Process
Our Process team is responsible for defining, optimizing, and controlling industrial processes within a plant. This includes everything from system development and modeling to technical documentation, equipment selection, and operational start-up.
Their responsibilities include the following tasks:
1. Process Development and Optimization
We design and model chemical and industrial processes for the treatment, separation, refining, or transport of hydrocarbons. Using simulation tools (such as Aspen HYSYS, PRO/II, ChemCAD, etc.), we predict system behavior and optimize parameters like pressure, temperature, flow rates, and energy consumption.
2. Flow Diagrams and Technical Documentation
We develop Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs) and Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) that define the plant’s operating logic. These documents serve as a foundation for the design of equipment, piping, control instrumentation, and safety systems.
3. Equipment and Piping Specification Definition
We participate in the selection and sizing of equipment such as distillation columns, heat exchangers, pumps, reactors, separators, and others. We also define fluid characteristics and design conditions that piping and associated components must meet.
4. Risk Analysis and Process Safety
4. Risk Analysis and Process Safety We contribute to safety studies such as HAZOP, LOPA, SIL, and consequence analysis, aiming to identify operational risks and define preventive measures. This ensures that process design considers both efficiency and the safety of people, the environment, and facilities.
5. Commissioning and Operational Support
We support the commissioning and start-up phases of the plant by adjusting parameters, validating operating conditions, and training staff. We also provide technical support during normal operation to resolve deviations, improve performance, and reduce energy consumption.
6. Multidisciplinary Interaction
We collaborate closely with piping, mechanical, instrumentation and control, electrical, and civil teams to ensure that the overall plant design is aligned with process requirements. This coordination is essential to achieving efficient systems.
7. Regulatory Compliance and Sustainability
We ensure that processes comply with current environmental and safety regulations, promoting resource efficiency, emission reduction, and the implementation of best operational practices. Our work is key to ensuring both sustainability and the social license to operate.
In summary, the Process team ensures the efficient, safe, and sustainable technical operation of industrial facilities. Their analytical mindset, deep understanding of physico-chemical phenomena, and ability to integrate multiple disciplines make them an essential player in achieving safe, cost-effective, and sustainable operations.
