The Tout Lui Faut Refinery, operated by Staatsolie and expanded in 2015, is a pillar of Suriname’s energy self-sufficiency. With a capacity of 15,000 barrels per day and hydrotreatment technology, it enabled the replacement of fuel imports and ensured local supply with cleaner, higher value-added products.
Hytech contributed engineering and implementation of new process units, including a naphtha splitter, a catalytic reformer, and an isomerization unit. These additions doubled the plant’s gasoline processing capacity.
Originally limited to fractionation and treatment of light naphtha, the refinery now features advanced conversion units that improve fuel quality, reduce import dependence, and enhance competitiveness in the local market.

This project enabled Staatsolie to expand its production in accordance with international standards, improving process efficiency, product quality, and operational reliability.
Key Technical Challenges:
-
Synchronization of catalyst cycles between the new units
-
Safe operation under high temperature and pressure conditions
-
Handling of hydrogen- and hydrochloric acid-rich environments
